Gymnastics Records Season-Best Team Score at Tri-Meet with Nebraska & Greenville

LINCOLN, NEB. - Army West Point gymnastics registered a season-best 393.550 in a tri-meet versus Nebraska and Greenville hosted by the Cornhuskers on Saturday afternoon.
Nebraska came out on top with a team score of 412.900 while Greenvile came in with a mark of 395.7000.

Army got out to a terrific start, tabbing a season-high 67.100 on floor to best Greenville. Four of the five of Army's participants either matched or set a new season-best, led by Jaden Blank who recorded a 13.700. Franco Peirano mached his career-best with a 13.600 while Max Rubin came in with a 13.550. Steven Manolakis matched his mark against Springfield earlier in the season with a 13.350.
The Black Knights continued to push the field with a 66.300 mark on pommel, led by standout yearling Maddox Pabellon who posted a season-high 13.900 to pace Army. Noah Duran matched his season-high with a 13.400 while Nick Lester broke through with a season-best as well (13.250).
Army once again came out on top over Greenville, this time on still rings with a 62.450. Blank continued to make his mark with a new career standard of 12.950 in the event, while Gabe Almeida logged a 12.850 in just his third time competing in the event this season.
The Black Knights narrowly edged Greenville on vault, while improving its team-high on the season by the thinnest of margins to 71.540. It brought more career-best performances out of Nick Lester (14.400) and Pabellon (14.150), while Johnathan Pinc led Army with a robust 14.450. Peirano added a 14.300 while Manolakis also came in with a 14.150.
Army was led by Jackson Pophal on parallel bars, who recorded a 13.300 while Jacob Brenner logged a 12.900 on the way to a 62.450 team showing. On high bar, Lester came in with his season-high of 12.900 which paced Army, as Blank recorded a 12.800 to also contribute to the team mark of 63.800.
The Black Knights will return for the Winter Cup in Louisville, Ky., next weekend, with competition days set for Friday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 25.
