No. 18 Women's Lacrosse Falls 12-11 at Siena

LOUDONVILLE, NY - No. 18 Army women's lacrosse (0-3) fell in a 12-11 nailbiter to Siena (1-1) on Saturday afternoon from Hickey Field.
Army trailed throughout before taking a brief fourth quarter lead, as the Black Knights were led by the efforts of Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly who each scored four goals. Duffy added seven draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers as part of her standout performance. Army outshot the Saints 19-7 in the second half, but were unable to record any saves in the final half hour as Siena used a slight 13-12 draw control advantage to earn the one-goal victory.
The first quarter saw both teams settling in offensively, as Gabrielle Mirak's opening goal less than four minutes in marked the lone tally for Army in the opening frame. Siena goal Sabrina Krasner made three of her 12 saves in the first, as the Saints took a 2-1 lead into the second quarter after goals from Taryn Asselin and Kelly Logue.
With the game opening up offensively, Army got a pair of open-play goals from Reilly and Madeline Lenkart, but the Saints then took a 5-3 lead with 9:23 to play which prompted a goalie change for Army as Anderson Strange come on in relief for the second straight contest. Strange made three saves before the half including two key stops on free-position attempts as Duffy's first goal of the game on the woman-up advantage eventually saw Army trail 6-4 heading into the half.
Duffy opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half with a free-position goal, as five of Army's seven second half tallies came via the eight-meter. Lenkart got the next on a free-position, as Duffy then secured her hat trick with 8:10 to play in the third with a goal that tied the score at seven. With Army gaining momentum, the teams traded the next six goals of the game to reach a 10-10 deadlock. All three of Army's came via Reilly who kept Army in the game with her four-goal performance, with two more coming via the eight-meter.
After Reilly's goal to tie it with 6:31 remaining in the game, Duffy gave Army its first lead since the first quarter with a free-position goal with 5:56 remaining. Siena won the ensuing draw control and would then take advantage of a woman-up opportunity to tie the score at 11 with 4:02 to play. The Saints would once again control the draw, with Elizabeth Wamp scoring to make it 12-11 with 2:43 to play. The Black Knights had two possessions to tie it late, with Duffy seeing a shot saved before Army had a crucial turnover on its final possession after forcing a late turnover by the Saints.
