Women's Basketball Drops Game on Road to Boston U

BOSTON, MA. – The Army West Point women's basketball team (10-12, 7-5 PL) fell to the Boston Terriers (14-9, 6-6), 72-64 on Valentine's Day. Caitlin Weimar paced the BU attack filling up the stat sheet with 22 points, on 10-14 shooting, adding seven blocks, six rebounds and six assists.
Freshman Fiona Hastick's 16 points and sophomore Reese Ericson's 13 points led the way for the Black Knights.
How It Happened
Army got off to a fast start racing out to a 21-11 lead late in the first quarter following a Taylor Wilson made three-pointer. In the opening 10 minutes, Ericson and Lauren Lithgow also connected from behind the arc.
In the second Ericson connected again from deep as well as Hastick but the Terriers went on a 7-0 run with two minutes to go in the half to take a 36-34 lead into the locker room.
BU's Caitlin Weimar led all scorers with 11 first-half points.
Hastick scored the first four points of the second half to put Army back on top, 38-36 as the two teams traded buckets. Lithgow buried her second three later in the quarter to retake the lead, 44-42. Weimar would score six points in the closing minutes of the quarter as Boston took a 53-50 lead into the fourth.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Kelsi Mingo and Aoibhe Gormley would extend BU's lead to eight points, 62-54.
Hastick would hit a three to cut the deficit down to five, but Ines Moteagudo would answer with a three of her own for Boston to keep the lead at eight points with under five minutes to play.
