Crush, McKane Named Patriot League Swimmers of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point Swimming & Diving freshmen Johnny Crush and Angie McKane were named Patriot League Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week Tuesday as announced by the league office.
Both plebes were instrumental in Army's historic sweep over Navy in the Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Star Meet, held Thursday, December 5 at Crandall Pool.
Crush, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. helped Army sweep Navy for the first time since 1988 in their dual meet on Friday, collecting four first place finishes for the men's team. The team claimed 15 of the 16 first place finishes up for grabs.
Crush himself earned individual first place finishes in the men's 100 back with a time of 44.53 to set a new program, plebe, and Crandall Pool record with the second-fastest time in the event to-date this season in men's college swimming. He then seam a program and plebe record setting time of 1:40.28 to earn first place in the men's 200 back, recording a time that stands 18th in the nation so far.
Crush led off two relays for Army, first helping the team open the meet with a first place finish, program record, and Crandall Pool record in the men's 200 medley relay with an overall time of 1:23.85 before then helping the squad close the meet with a program and Crandall Pool record setting time of 2:51.54 in the men's 400 freestyle relay, helped along by Crush's lead off program, plebe, and record-setting men's 100 free time of 42.55.
On the women's side, McKane, a freshman from Corning, N.Y., was an integral piece in helping the women's team earn their first win over Navy since 1988. McKane earned three first place finishes, helping the women claim 12 of the 16 first place finishes up for grabs.
McKane helped the women's team open the meet with a program and Crandall pool record in the women's 200 medley relay from a time of 1:39.43. She then earned first place in the women's 100 back with a time of 54.05 to set a new Crandall Pool record before claiming first place with a program, plebe, and Crandall Pool record time of 52.51.
The Black Knights collected wins simultaneously over Navy for the first time in 36 years with 27 first place finishes, 13 program records, and 12 Crandall Pool records.
Army Swimming & Diving will return to action Saturday, January 11th with dual meet against Patriot League opponent Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
