Daily Selected as Davey O’Brien Semifinalist
November 12, 2024 | Football
FORT WORTH, Texas – Army West Point senior quarterback Bryson Daily has been selected as one of 16 semifinalists for the National Quarterback Award, the Davey O'Brien Award.
The semifinalist poll was computed after tabulating the results of the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee's ballots as well as bonus ballots applied through the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote.
The 16 quarterbacks have helped guide their respective teams to a combined record of 129-20 (.866). Additionally, their teams hold down 14 of the top 20 teams in the latest Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Polls. Six FBS conferences are represented on the list. The Big Ten and SEC lead the way with four honorees apiece.
Last weekend at North Texas, Daily eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark on the season, Army's first 1,000-yard rusher since Kelvin Hopkins Jr in 2018. Daily is only the fourth 1,000-yard rusher in the Jeff Monken era. He also became one of four Army QBs with more than 2,000 career rushing yards in their careers (Steelman, Bradshaw, Crawford and Daily).
Daily's 21 rushing touchdowns are second most in the nation, only trailing Jeanty (23).
Through the air, Daily has thrown for 644 yards, seven touchdowns and has only thrown one interception.
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. The 47th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
