HAMILTON, N.Y. – Army West Point Volleyball hit the road once more on Friday night as they traveled to Hamilton, N.Y. to face the Colgate Raiders at Cotterell Court. Juliette Myrick led the Black Knights as one of the squad's two setters, collecting her fifth triple-double of the season with team-leading 10 kills, 18 assists, and 13 digs.
Match Recap
The Raiders jumped ahead to an 8-2 lead in the first set, setting a blazing pace for the match that held through the final whistle. The Black Knights benefitted from their blocking prowess in the first set as Tatum Grimes combined with Chloe Murakami and Mackenzie Lynch for blocks at 6-10 and 10-14 to keep Army within five points of Colgate.
After a Colgate run extended their lead to 18-11, Army put together a 5-3 run to cut the difference to just four points as Juliette Myrick put down two kills and Murakami put another kill down for Army.
A service error for the Raiders and a kill for Kingsley Wallace pulled Army closer to the Raiders' tally but Colgate claimed the first set 18-25 with a trio of kills.
Army pressed back as the second frame began, remaining within one point of the Raiders at 3-4 and 4-5, but Colgate clicked things into a higher gear and opened the match up to a 13-7 lead that took advantage of Army attacking errors.
Myrick buried a kill for the Black Knights to cut off a run for the Raiders and followed it up with a service ace, yet Colgate's block flipped the script back on Army and sparked a 7-2 run that edged the Raiders over the 20-point threshold.
Army's pin hitters combined to hold off Colgate's march towards set point as Wallace, Lynch, Murakami, and Myrick notched kills for the Black Knights to bring the set to 23-17 in Colgate's favor.
The Raiders reached their second set point opportunity of the match with their 22nd kill of the match, but Army stalled their advance as they took advantage of a service and attack error from the Raiders before a Black Knight service error pushed the Raiders up to a 25-20 set two win.
Army's squad stumbled in the opening points of the third set with Colgate's offense hammering the Black Knights with a rash of kills and a well-placed service ace.
The Black Knights fought to find their feet with a pair of back-to-back kills for Myrick and a block for Wallace and freshman middle blocker Michelle Parker to cut Colgate's lead to just five points.
Colgate continued to charge ahead, thwarting Army's attempts to compile a run of its own to shorten the Raiders' lead.
Army pulled within four points of the Raiders on a service ace for Myrick when Colgate clocked three more kills to clinch the three-set win.

Coach's Corner
"Colgate was on fire today. They put a ton of pressure on us," said Head Coach Alma Kovaci Lee. "Our serve and pass struggled quite a bit today and was just a step too slow in all aspects of the game. We will refocus tonight and get ready for a dynamic Holy Cross team tomorrow."
Up Next
Army's squad will remain on the road as they head to Worcester, Mass. to face the Colgate Raiders at the Reid Athletic Center on Friday, Nov. 1 in a 7pm ET matchup.
