Women's Soccer Falls in Regular Season Finale at Boston U; Will Take on Navy in Patriot League Quarterfinals

BOSTON - Army West Point women's soccer (11-5-1, 5-3-1 Patriot League) fell by a score of 1-0 in its regular season finale at Boston U (5-7-6, 5-0-4 Patriot League) on Wednesday night.
Army secured the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with the result and will host sixth-seeded Navy on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Malek Stadium for a quarterfinal matchup.
The first half saw Army on the foot front early with Boston then growing into the game and having the majority of possession in the closing 15 minutes of the half. The Terriers had six corners in the first half compared to two for Army, with Strohman making a fine stop on a shot from BU's Giulianna Gianino in the closing minutes of the half.
Shots were 7-5 in favor of the Terriers as each goalkeeper was forced into two saves through first 45 minutes.
The second half saw Boston control possession and the opportunities to score, as Army failed to test Bridget Carr in the Terriers' goal in the final 45. Strohman was called into action again, making three more saves before Boston found a breakthrough in the final ten minutes. Morgan Fagar found Olivia Avellar with a low-driven cross across the box as the freshman deposited her first career goal which eventually secured the No. 2 seed for the Terriers.
Army was unable to find the equalizer and was outshot 15-8 in the contest while Terriers had 10 corners compared to six for the Black Knights.
The 11 wins for Army thus far marks the most in the regular season for the program since the 2010 season and is the most total wins since the 2011 campaign.
Army will host Navy on Sunday just 15 days after the last meeting at Malek Stadium, in which Army surged to a 4-0 victory.
