January 30, 2024 | Men's Gymnastics
DANBURY, CT - Army West Point gymnastics claimed a pair of weekly honors from the ECAC, with senior Steven Manolakis earning Gymnast of the Week while freshman Jaden Blank was named the conference's Rookie fo the Week.
The duo helped the Black Knights to a convincing 382.300-367.200 victory over Springfield at home this past week, which marked the first dual-meet victory for head coach JD Reive.
A team captain from Hanover, Mass., Manolakis contributed across three events to help propel Army to victory. His performance in the vault earned him an individual win with a 14.500, as Army's team vault score of 71.400 was its highest since the vault scoring change was implemented in 2017. Manolakis also posted Army's second-highest score in floor (13.350) while helping the Black Knights to a team-win on parallel bars with a 12.400 mark.
Blank continued the strong start to his collegiate career, also contributing to the unprecedented vault score with a 14.050 mark. His 12.850 on still rings was good to claim one of four individual event victories for the Black Knights. Blank posted a 13.050 in his floor routine, while recording Army's second-best mark on high bar with a 12.700.
Army will now head to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the annual Star Series presented by USAA against Navy at 2:00 p.m.
