Heckel Jr. Leads Golf at Folds of Honor Collegiate

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Army West Point golf team finished its first tournament of the season, placing 18th at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club. Â

The Black Knights wrapped up the final day with a team score of 314 (+30) and finished with a team score of 938 (+86). Notre Dame came from behind to win the tournament, shooting 2-under as a team on the final day to move up four spots to take the title at 8-over for the tournament. Cecil Belisle of Kansas was the only player to shoot under par at the end of the three rounds and took home the individual championship at 1-under par.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
• John Heckel Jr. was Army's best player on the course for the three days and finished 7-over par which put him in a tie for 33rd place. Â
• He shot a 1-over 72 in the final round with an eagle on his ninth of the day (18th on the course). Â
• Thanks to that eagle, Heckel Jr. shot even on his front nine and 1-over on the second nine and posted 14 pars during his round. Â
• Lake Kim had his best day of the tournament on Wednesday with a 5-over 76.
• He posted three birdies in his first nine and was 1-under through 10.

The Black Knights return to action on the weekend of Sept. 16-17 at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Invitational in Connecticut.
