CAMBRIDGE, MA. - Army West Point women's rugby (1-3, 1-3 NIRA) fell on the road to Harvard University (4-0, 2-0 NIRA) by a score of 45-3 on Saturday afternoon.
A rematch of last year's NIRA semifinal bout after the Black Knights took down the Crimson in the regular season, the sides met again from Mignone Field. The Crimson got out to an early 10-0 within the opening minutes with tries from Cameron Fields and Reese Morgan. Harvard continued to reach the try zone, eventually seeing a 20-0 advantage at the 22-minute mark following its fourth try of the match. Lennon London, who paced the Crimson with three tries, made it a 25-0 game at the half with her second try of the afternoon.
After keeping Army off the scoresheet in the opening half, Harvard continued to find a way through in the second half, extending its lead to 30-0 with a try. Army's lone points of the contest came in the 60th minute, as Alissa Eisenhart knocked in her third penalty kick of the season to make it a 30-3 scoreline. The Crimson controlled the remainder of the game, recording an eventual 45-3 victory to remain undefeated on the season. Army was held without a try for the first time this season, and will look to bounce back next Saturday with another road matchup at Mount St. Mary's.
