WEST POINT, N.Y. – The 2023 Folds of Honor Collegiate, which is college golf's most heroic tournament at renowned American Dunes Golf Club, is set to be broadcast live on the Golf Channel.
Â
The Black Knights are one of 18 schools participating in the second annual tournament in Grand Haven, Mich., and it tees off on Sept. 3. All three rounds televised live on Golf Channel from 4:00-7:00 PM EDT.Â
Â
"As a former college golfer at the University of Kansas and F16 fighter pilot, my heart is on fire to host a college tournament that raises funds for Folds of Honor and features a field like no other in college golf," said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. "We have the privilege of hosting all three service academies, two HBCUs, and several of the preeminent powerhouses in college golf."Â
Â
Finally, each team will carry an honor bag tag, representing the Folds of Honor recipients at each of their schools. Folds will award over 9,000 scholarships this fall and has awarded over 1,500 scholarships at the schools playing in this year's Collegiate."Â Â
  Â
"When we conceived this course with Mr. (Jack) Nicklaus, commemorating the birthplace of Folds of Honor, providing golf's most patriotic round, and hosting a top-tier college event were among our goals," said Rooney. "It's humbling that since we opened in May 2021, we've accomplished all three. I feel so blessed to celebrate this moment with Mr. Nicklaus who is attending the event and serving as honorary chairman."Â
Â
The field of 18 features a mix of elite Power Five conference schools; the three Service Academies; two Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs); one Division II qualifier; and two winners of the Jack Nicklaus Award as National Players of the Year, as selected by the GCAA: Â Â Â
