Track & Field Completes Competition at NCAA East Preliminaries

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Army West Point track & field completed its time at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet hosted by the University of North Florida. During the final three days of competition, the Black Knights saw six athletes compete in total across five different events, attempting to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 7-10 in Austin, Tx.
Kayley Ragazzini began the day on Thursday for the Black Knights, competing in the hammer throw. Her mark of 54.82m landed in 44th-place in the event, failing to advance. Ragazzini was one of two Army athletes to qualify for multiple events at the regional meet, stepping up again in the shot put. Her 14.78m throw in the shot put logged a 38th-place finish for the junior.
Army saw three javelin throwers qualify for the regional meet, with Alexah Zaczynski leading the way with a 44.62m mark which placed her in 27th-place overall. Brooke Stratman registered a distance of 42.46m, good for 37th-place in the event. Nicole Sacchinelli rounded out the Black Knights representation in the event, landing in 39th with a mark of 41.54m.
Returning on Friday, Nathan Davis competed in the 3000m steeplechase. Davis, the lone Army freshman to make the regional meet, posted a personal best 8:52.21 on his way to a 15th-place finish, narrowly missing qualification for Austin. Sophia Dykstra rounded out the Army contingency on Saturday, logging a 41st-place finish in the the discus throw behind a distance of 44.95m.Â
