April 29, 2023 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army linebacker Andre Carter II has received an undrafted free agent opportunity to play in the NFL from the Minnesota Vikings.
Carter left his mark on Army, finishing his career with 20.0 career sacks, second most in Army history behind Josh McNary's 28.0 (2007-10.). In 2021 his junior season, he became Army's first AP All-American in 31 years (Third Team). His 15.5 sacks that season were the most in a single season in Army history and were also second most in the country behind Alabama's Will Anderson (17.5).
Following his senior season, Carter participated in the Reese's Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.
Army currently has four other active NFL players, all of whom entered the league as UDFA's: Jon Rhattigan (LB, Seattle Seahawks), Cole Christiansen (LB, Kansas City), Elijah Riley (DB, Pittsburgh Steelers), and Brett Toth (OL, Philadelphia Eagles).
The Minnesota Vikings Rookie minicamp will take place May 12-14.
