No. 15 Women's Lacrosse Closes Regular Season with 17-7 Victory at Lafayette

EASTON, PA - No. 15 Army West Point women's lacrosse (14-2, 8-1 Patriot League) closed out the regular season with a 17-7 victory over Lafayette (2-15, 1-8 Patriot League) on Thursday night.
The Black Knights matched a program-best with its 14th victory of the season, and will head to the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 2 seed with a semifinal opponent on Thursday, May 4th to be determined.
Allison Reilly continued her strong play with a game-high six points through a goal and five assists while Julia Gorajek and Kathleen Sullivan each deposited four goals. Brigid Duffy added a pair of goals to reach 50 goals scored the season, becoming the sixth Cadet in program history to reach the 50-goal plateau in a season.
Gorajek came out and scored the first two goals of the game to give Army a lead within four minutes. Reilly provided an assist on the first to Gorajek, who quickly netted her first quarter hat trick as Army eventually jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Carleigh Armstrong buried the fifth for the Black Knights with Reilly providing the helper once again. Lafayette was able to get one back in the final minute of the frame, as Army led 5-1 through one.
Army scored the first three of the second with Sullivan getting in on the action with a pair of goals. Sarah Chernik then provided her fourth goal of the season, before eventually assisting Reilly later in the quarter. Reilly scored the final goal of the half for the Black Knights and went into the break with a career-best four assists. Julia Franzoni and Armstrong also logged goals towards the end of the half which helped Army get out to an 11-2 advantage entering the third. Lindsey Serafine made three saves on five shots faced in the half.
Lafayette found its footing in the third, scoring the first three of the half to cut it down to an 11-5 lead. Army's defense went on to shutout the Leopards over the next 15:16 after allowing it back to six-goal game, with Sullivan scoring the lone goal of the frame for Army off a Gorajek feed in transition.
Brigid Duffy got on the scoresheet to start the fourth, with back-to-back goals which marked her 50th tally of the season. Duffy's goals made it a 14-5 game with 11:38 remaining, as Gorajek notched her fourth of the contest just twenty seconds later to put Army ahead by ten, it's largest lead. Sullivan and Franzoni added goals in the closing minutes, as Army saw out an eventual 17-7 victory to close out the regular season with a 14-2, 8-1 Patriot League mark.
