Andre Carter II Ready for NFL Draft

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point senior linebacker Andre Carter II has his eyes set on the NFL Draft this upcoming weekend (April 27-29), where he hopes to be the highest-drafted Army football player since Glenn Davis was selected with the second overall pick in 1947 and the first drafted Army player since Caleb Campbell in 2008.
ARMY BLACK KNIGHTS 2023 NFL DRAFT NOTES
Carter wrapped up his career with the Black Knights with 20.0 career sacks, second most in Army history behind Josh McNary's 28.0 (2007-10). After his junior campaign in 2021, Carter became Army's first AP All-American in 31 years (Third Team).
The 88th NFL Draft kicks off this Thursday from Kansas City, Missouri in what is a three-day event. The first round starts on Thursday, April 27 at 8 PM EST, with the second and third rounds on Friday, April 28 starting at 7 PM EST. Rounds 4-7 conclude on Saturday, April 29 at 12 PM EST.
The first round will begin at 8:00 PM EST on Thursday and will conclude by approximately 11:30 PM ET). In 2022, the first round consumed three hours and 25 minutes. The second and third rounds will conclude on Friday by approximately 12:00 AM ET. The second and third rounds took a combined four hours and 10 minutes in 2022. The draft will conclude by approximately 7:00 PM ET on Saturday with the final four rounds. Rounds 4 through 7 took six hours and 54 minutes in 2022.
West Point has six Draft eligible players: Andre Carter II, LB; Marquel Broughton, DB; Kwabena Bonsu, DL; Braheam Murphy, WR; Isaiah Morris, CB; and Maurice Bellan, RB. Army held its NFL Pro Day on March 16, which had 32 scouts in attendance representing 27 NFL teams.
Army currently has four active NFL players, all of whom entered the league as undrafted free agents: Jon Rhattigan (LB, Seattle Seahawks), Cole Christiansen (LB, Kansas City), Elijah Riley (DB, Pittsburgh Steelers), and Brett Toth (OL, Philadelphia Eagles).
There will be 259 selections, including 37 compensatory choices that have been awarded to 16 teams that either experienced a net loss of certain quality unrestricted free agents last year or received special selections under a 2020 amendment to the League's Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was agreed upon by the NFL and the NFLPA to promote equal employment opportunities and an inclusive workforce within NFL clubs.
