STATESBORO, Ga. – The Army West Point golf team competed in the first round of the Schenkel Invitational on Friday in Georgia.

The Black Knights finished round one in 14th place with a team score of 311 (+23). The hosts Eagles of Georgia Southern lead the tournament at 272 (-16). Hunter Logan of Mississippi State is atop the player leaderboard after a 7-under 65 in round one.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Rob Ferris led the way for the Black Knights with a 2-under 70 in round one.
• He finished the opening day in a tie for 7th overall on the player leaderboard.
• Ferris had five birdies on the day, including coming into coming in the clubhouse with three-consecutive birdies to finish his round.

The Black Knights are back for the second round on Saturday with tee times starting at 9:45 a.m. at Forest Heights Country Club.
