James Pinter, Meghan Cole, and William Rankin Earn Patriot League All-Academic Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Army West Point men's and women's swimming and diving team earned three spots on the Patriot League All-Academic Team announced by the league on Wednesday. Â
The announcement comes after an impressive performance from both teams at the 2023 Patriot League Championships, where both the men's and women's teams finished second. The men's team racked up 856.50 points and earning 615.50 points.
Junior James Pinter has a cumulative GPA of 3.894 and is majoring in systems engineering. This season the Iowa City Iowa native saw success in the pool. In Army's home meet against Boston College, Pinter finished fourth in the 200 Free Relay and sixth in the 100 Fly. Pinter saw continued success when the Black Knights defeated Navy for the first time since 1990, where Pinter finished third in the 100 Fly. In the relays, Pinter finished fourth in the 200 Medley Relay and fifth in the 400 Free Relay. In Army's final home meet of the 2022-23 season, Pinter finished third in the 200 Medley Relay.Â
Meghan Cole is majoring in operations research and has a cumulative GPA of 3.675. At the Patriot League Championships, Cole earned silver in the 50 Free. Cole also finished third in the 100 Fly and 100 Free. At the Patriot League Championships, Cole earned 49 individual points. Â
The Fredrick, Md. native has seen success in the pool throughout the season. In Army's meet vs. Navy, Cole finished in the top three spot first in the 50 Free, setting an Academy record. Cole also finished second and third in the 100 Fly and 100 Free.Â
Senior captain William Rankin has a cumulative GPA of 4.001 and is majoring in life science. In the Patriot League Championships, Rankin finished ninth in the 50 Free, and tenth in the 100 Free and 200 Free. In the Championships, Rankin earned 22 individual points. In the relays, William was a part of the 200 Free Relay team, finishing second with a time of 1:18.61, setting a new Academy record. Rankin also was also a part of the 400 Free Relay team finishing second, setting a new Academy Record. In the Championships, Rankin earned 22 individual points. In the meet against Navy, Rankin earned bronze in the 50 Free and finished fourth in the 100 Free. In the relay's, Rankin was a part of the 400 Free Relay team that broke an Academy, Crandall Pool, and Patriot League Record. He also finished fourth in the 200 Medley relay.Â
