Swimming and Diving See 21 Cadet-Athletes Named to Patriot League All-League Teams

BELTHLEHEM, PA. – After a successful Patriot League Championship finishing both the men's and women's teams finished second. The men's team finished with a final score of 846.5 while the women's team finished with a score of 615.5. The Army West Point swim and dive team had 21 total Cadet athletes earn All-Conference honors announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. Army placed 12 athletes on the All-League First Team, while nine cadet-athletes earned Second Team accolades. The Black Knights had the second most selections, falling shortly behind Navy who had 24, Army finished ahead of Bucknell who had 11 named All-League.
The swimmers and divers who placed first in individual events at the Patriot League Championships, automatically qualify for the All-League first team. The runners-up finishers are guaranteed at least a second-team spot. Both teams are completed based on overall points compiled during the championship. Individual points are counted towards All-League accolades.
On the women's side, Army had five swimmers named to the First Team All-League Team; Meghan Cole, Catriona Gilmore, Aurelie Migault, Molly Webber and Clara Williams.
Meghan Cole, sophomore, led the Black Knights in the Patriot League Championships, earning 49 individual points. Cole finished second in the 50 Free with a time of 22.93. Cole finished third in the 100 fly and the 100 free with times of 53.79 and 50.43, respectively. Cole also helped the Black Knights to the top three finishes in the relays (400 Medley, 200 Free, 400 Free). Meghan Cole was a part of the 400 Medley relay team that broke an Academy record with a time of 3:39.12. Cole was also a part of the 400 Free Relay that broke an Academy record with a final time of 3:23.22
Catriona Gilmore had top four finishes in each of her events. During the Championship, Gilmore earned 47 points for the Black Knights. Gilmore kicked things off in the 200IM finishing third with a time of 2:00.58. In the 200 Breast, Gilmore also finished third with a final time of 2:14.23. In the 100 Breast, she finished fourth with a final time of 1:01.90.
Aurelie Migault was also named First Team All-Patriot League. Continuing her success all season, Migualt finished first in 100 Breast with a time of 1:00.76, setting a new Academy record and qualifying as an NCAA B Cut. In the 200 Breast, Migault won silver with a time of 2:12.30. Migault's time also stood for an NCAA B Cut. In the relay's, Migault was a part of the winning 400 Medley relay team alongside Meghan Cole, Molly Webber, and Layne Peterson with their time of 3:39.12, breaking an Academy record. She was also a part of the winning 400 Free Relay team, finishing with a time of 2:20.40, also setting a new Academy record.
In her first Patriot League Championship, plebe Molly Webber saw success in the pool, leading the Black Knights with 118 points. Webber finished first in the 500 Free with a time of 4:47.90, breaking an Academy record. In the relays, she continued to see success being a part of three relay teams that broke Academy records (400 Free, 400 Medley, and 800 Free).
Rounding out the women's First Team All-League is Clara Williams. Willliams earned silver in the 100 Free and third in the 200 Free, setting a new Academy record.
She was a part of the first place 400 Medley team, that broke an Academy record. Williams was also part of the 400 Free Relay, finishing first and breaking an Academy record. She was also a member of the 800 Free Relay that set a new Academy record.
Army's Minh Donnell, Layne Peterson and Melinda Zhang were named Patriot League Swim and Dive Women's Second Team All-League.
On the men's side, plebe Brice Barrieault won the 1650 and 500 Free and broke the Academy record for the 500 Free. His time for the 500 Free stands as an NCAA B Cut. Barrieault finished eighth in the 400 IM. Barrieault secured 51 points for the Black Knights. Additionally, Barrieault was named Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Meet.
Junior Bruce Bannister Jr. accumulated 42 points at the Patriot League Championships. Bannister finished fifth in the 100 Breast and earned bronze in the 200 Breast. Bannister was also seventh in the 200 IM.
Alex Edwards earned silver in the 100 Back and tied for third in the 200 IM. Edwards also finished fifth in the 200 Back. In the 200 Back and 200 IM, Edwards qualified for an NCAA B Cuts. In the relays, Edwards was a part of the 400 Medley relay (second) and 200 Medley relay (third), breaking the Academy record for both events.
Plebe Kohen Rankin earned 142 points at the Patriot League Championship, leading the way for Army. In the 100 Breast Rankin finished first, setting a new Academy record and a new Bucknell University Pool Record Rankin's time also stood for an NCAA B Cut. Rankin won the 200 Breast, setting a new Academy record and qualifying an NCAA B Cut. In the relay's, Rankin helped the Black Knights earn three relay medals, finishing second in the 400 Medley and 200 Free Relay, and third in the 200 Medley Relay. In the 200 Free Relay, Army set a new meet record.
Ian Tansill finished second in the 1650 Free and fifth in the 500 Free. He also finished seventh in the 200 Free. In total, Tansill earned 77 points for the Black Knights. He was also part of the 800 Free Relay team that finished and broke a new Academy record.
Wes Tate finished third in the 500 Free and the 1650 Free. His times in both events stood as an NCAA B Cuts. Tate also finished fifth in the 200 Free. Tate was also part of the 800 Free relay team that finished second and set a new Academy record.
Lastly, Sam Wesley earned 52 points for the Black Knights during the Patriot League Championship. Wesley finished first in the 200 IM, qualifying for an NCAA B Cut. He also finished second in the 200 Back, with his time also standing as an NCAA B Cut. Wesley also finished fourth in the 400 IM.
CJ Bernauer, Owen Harlow, Tanner Falls, Joey Kling, Isaac Newman, and Ben Vorthmann were named Patriot League Swimming and Diving Second Team All-League Team.
