Men's Basketball Stumbles At Home To Boston; Will Host PL Quarterfinal Game on March 2

WEST POINT, NY – Army West Point men's basketball (15-15. 9-8 Patriot League) fell on Senior night to Boston University (14-16, 7-10), 73-67 on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, based on other games around the Patriot League, Army has clinched the #4 seed in the Patriot League tournament and will host a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal game at Christl Arena on Thursday, March 2 at 6pm.
Jalen Rucker drilled a three-pointer to tie the game at 67 a piece with 1:53 left, to complete an eight-point second half comeback. However, after Rucker's game-tying three, Army would go scoreless from then on out, as Boston would connect on a three-pointer by Jonas Harper and convert several foul shots to pull away with the victory.
Rucker led the way for Army, scoring a game high 24 points on 8-19 shooting (3-7 from three), while dishing out four assists.
A basket by Abe Johnson with 2:18 left in the first half gave Army a 29-27 lead, but Boston responded with a three-pointer by Walter Whyte and a score by Ethan Brittain-Watts to take a 33-29 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Terriers opened an eight-point lead, 47-39 at the 13:09 mark.
Rucker, who scored 16 of his 24 in the second half, began to do most of his heavy lifting to rally Army.
The junior guard connected on a jumper and a three-pointer in the next minute and a half of action, to cut the Terrier lead to 49-44. Boston's Jonas Harper would connect on a three-pointer, to get Boston back up eight, 52-44 but Rucker and company would continue the attack.
Rucker would find an open Ethan Roberts, who hit a three, several possessions later to answer the Harper make.
Trailing 67-60 with 4:14 to play, Army went on a 7-0 scoring run to tie the game. Roberts scored on a layup, Rucker would make two foul shots and Rucker would make his clutch deep three-pointer to knot the game at 67-67 with 1:53 to play.
Ethan Brittain-Watts scored a team high 16 points for Boston and Jonas Harper (13) and Fletcher Tynen (10) were also in double figures for the Terriers.
Army will conclude the regular season on the road Saturday afternoon, playing Holy Cross.
