Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving Retain Hold Onto 2nd At PL Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Kohen Rankin and Aurelie Migault each captured the 100 Breast to lead the Army West Point men's and women's swimming and diving teams, respectively, during the third day of the Patriot League Championships as the Black Knights retained their hold onto second place.
The men outpointed Navy 495.5 to 480.5 on Friday to trail 627.5-594.5 in the 10-team field, while the Army women have 400.5 points to the Midshipmen's 543.5 heading into the final day of the championships.
The Men's Meet
Army had five swimmers and one diver place among the top three. In addition to Rankin's winning performance in the 100 Breast in 52.61, breaking an Academy record (Evan Zhang, 53, 2019) he also swam the third leg on the 200 free relay team that combined for a second-place time of 1:18.61, breaking Bucknell pool, league, meet, and an Academy record (Zock, Hein, Webber, McCredie, 1:19.59) records. Rounding out that rest of that foursome were Ben Vorthmann and Owen Harlow with the first two legs with William Rankin swimming anchor.
Placing second were CJ Bernauer, 400 IM (3:51.15), Tanner Falls, 200 Free (1:36.03) and Alex Edwards, 100 Back (48.10), with third-place finishes from Isaac Newman on the 1M (328.00) and Meghan Cole, 100 Fly (53.79).
The Black Knights were dominant in the 200 Free, taking four of the top eight spots, and also shined in the 100 backstroke and one-meter scoring with three in each event placing among the A finals.
Rounding out the rest of the scoring in the 200 Free were Wes Tate (1:37.30), Sean Dwyer (1:37.34) and Ian Tansill (1:38.04). Highlighting the 100 Back were Zac Leith (49.04) and Jacob Powell (49.23) with Alex Zhang (291.6) and Adam Elahmadi (259.80) doing the same on the low board.
The Women's Meet
Migault set the pace as she beat the field in the 100 Breast with her winning time of 1:00.76, besting Navy's Lauren Walsh (1:10.50) for the top spot on the podium. Aurelie Migault's time also set a new Academy record.
Placing third individually were Clara Williams in the 200 Free (1:48.21), Meghan Cole, 100 Fly (53.79), and Layne Peterson, who tied in the 100 Back (55.14). Posting fourth place finishes were Molly Webber, 200 Free (1:48.77), and Catriona Gilmore, 100 Breast (1:01.90).
The 200 Free Relay team of Cole, Williams, Angela Huang and Webber, who took second in 1:32.73.
