Women’s Tennis Concludes Weekend at ITA Regionals

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team concluded competition at the ITA Regionals on Sunday. Army's Ylan Duong, Vennmukiil Mathivanan, Paulina Feoli, Julia Kelly, Emma Sy, and Emily Ruckno represented the Black Knights at Regionals.
Match Recap:
Army's Ylan Duong advanced to the Round of 32, defeating Laura Wipfli of NJIT in a three-set thriller 7-6, 6-2, 10-8, advancing to the Round of 16, where she was bested by Temple's Samantha Nanere.
Sophomore Vennmukiil Mathivanan reached the Round of 32 where she was bested by Princeton's Maia Sung in a tight three-set match (4-6, 6-2, 10-4). Junior Julia Kelly defeated Stony Brook's Chandrika Joshi in the Round of 64, moving forward to the Round of 32. In the Round of 32, Kelly was bested by St. John's Mouna Bouzgarrou 6-2, 6-0.
Freshman Emily Ruckno competed against Cornell's Emma Baker in the Round of 64. Ruckno fell to Baker in a tight three-set match (7-5, 6-3, 10-7). Paulina Feoli also advanced to the Round of 64, where she was bested by Isabella Chhiv of Princeton 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, seventeenth-seeded Jenna Sabile and Julia Kelly defeated twenty-fourth-seeded Raffaela Alhach and Eleni Fasoula of Fordham 8-7, advancing to the Quarterfinals. Sabile and Kelly competed opposite twenty-eighth-seeded Thamara Frasser Kawararani and Marianthi Christoforidou of Temple. Sabile and Kelly where they fell 8-5.
