Mens Rugby Comes Up Short Against Life, 24-39

West Point, NY - The Army men's rugby team fell short at home against Life University by a score of 39-24.
How it Happened
The first ten points of the match would go to the Running Eagles as they opened up the scoring just four minutes in with their first try of the game, followed up by a successful conversion to make it 7-0, with 35 minutes left to play in the first half. Shortly after, Life would score a penalty kick to make it 10-0 at the 30-minute mark.
Through the next ten minutes of action, the Black Knights and Life would go on to swap penalty kicks to make it a 13-3 game halfway through the first half. Army's defense would hold strong and not allow any more first-half points. Turning good defense into offense, Dom Tianga would score Army's first try of the match with just 30 seconds left, followed by a successful conversion from Jonny Haley. This cut the Life lead to three going into halftime.
Picking up where they left off, junior Nathan Gould scored a try and Haley would get another conversion to give Army the 17-13 lead just seven minutes into the second half. The Running Eagles would respond with a try and conversion of their own to reclaim the lead and make it 20-17 with 23 minutes left to play. Life would get the next three scores, two tries, and a conversion, to open up the lead and make it 32-17 with just under 15 minutes left to play. This did not stop Army from taking this match down to the wire and making a push on offense. The Black Knights would score a try from Andrew Bardak and a conversion from Haley cut the Life lead down to eight. Life would go on to score a try and a conversion and the buzzer sounded before Army could respond, ending the game with a final score of 24-39 in favor of the Running Eagles.
The Black Knights will be in action again next Friday, November 3rd for a big academy match-up as they take on Air Force in Colorado at 9:00 PM (EST).
