Men's Rugby Soars Past Air Force

Glendale, CO - The West Point Men's Rugby team defeated Air Force by a score of 22-17 Friday Night in Colorado.
How it Happened
The match was a defensive battle between the two teams with neither side scoring more than 25 points. The Falcons opened up the scoring 15 minutes in, with a penalty kick to give them the 3-0 lead. That lead would be short-lived as sophomore Ciaran Murray scored his first of two tries just over three minutes later to put Army on top 5-3. The Black Knight's defense would hold Air Force to just those three points in the first half while going on to score two more tries of their own before the break.
Chance Loundenback, the freshman out of Everett, Washington scored a try with just over ten minutes left to go in the first half. Murray followed up with his second score of the day with just seven minutes to go until the break to give the Black Knights a 15-3 lead with 40 minutes left to play.
Air Force came out strong to start the second half, scoring a try and succeeding on the conversion to cut the Army lead to five. The Black Knights put together a rapid response as freshman Kolbet Schrichte scored a try and had the conversion just seven minutes after the Falcon score. With 13 minutes left to go Army carried a 22-10 lead. Air Force would go on to score one more try and conversion but the Black Knight defense stopped any comeback hopes as they came out victorious at the final buzzer 22-17.

Really glad we got the win on the road and we are also very thankful for our fans, parents, and supporters who came out in numbers to cheer us on. it was a beautiful night for rugby but now we shift our focus to preparing for Navy this coming week."
