Army Softball Selected No. 3 in Patriot League Preseason Poll; Edwards Named to Preseason All-League Team

BETHLEHEM, PA – Army West Point softball has been selected third in the Patriot League preseason poll, and Army junior outfielder Kayla Edwards was named to the Preseason All-League team announced today by the league.
Army Softball is coming off a 20-34 (10-8) 2022 campaign that saw the emergency of Kayla Edwards and others. Entering 2023, the program is lead by first-year Interim Head Coach Jen Consaul. Consaul has been an assistant on the West Point staff since 2019. Consaul had previously worked primarily with the team's pitching staff. Under her guidance, Jolie Duong collected Second Team All-Patriot League honors at the end of the 2021 campaign. Duong led the team with a 9-2 record and struck out 50 batters en route to posting a 2.69 ERA.
As a sophomore last season, Edwards appeared in 54 games batting .328, totaling 59 hits, 13 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 23 RBI and 28 R. She was named to the Patriot League Postseason Team, making the First-Team. Her batting average was good for 10th best in the league and she totaled the second most hits (58) and was third in doubles (13).
For her full West Point career, (2021-pres.) she is a career .339 hitter in 239 at-bats.
