WEYMOUTH, MASS. –The Army West Point women's tennis team fell to Boston College 6-1 Saturday night. Senior Elizabeth Gilbert put Army on the board after winning her singles match.
How it Happened
The Boston College Eagles got on the board first winning the doubles point, sweeping the Black Knights. Boston College's Sophia Edwards and Stephanie Sanchez defeated Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans 6-4. Marice Aguiar and Muskan Mahajan bested Elizabeth Gilbert and Sophie McKenzie in a tight 7-6 match.
Although the Eagles won five of the six matches, Army's Elizabeth Gilbert defeated Muskan Mahajan in two sets (6-3, 6-0). In match No. 1 Cooper Jackson fell to Boston College's Marice Aguiar (6-4, 7-5). No. 2, Sophia Edwards bested Army's Maria Drobotova (6-0, 6-4). In match No. 4 Emma Sy lost 1-7, 7-5, while Paige Herremans at No. 5 and Ylan Duong, No. 6 both fell in in the second set.
