Rucker Earns Back-to-Back Patriot League Player of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Army West Point Men's Basketball junior Jalen Rucker was named the Patriot League GEICO Player of the Week marking back-to-back weeks winning the honor, announced today by the league. He also becomes the first athlete to win the award twice this season in the league.
In three games this past week (2-1 record), Rucker averaged 22.0 ppg, 5.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He shot a total of 24-40 (60.0%) from the floor and an unconscious 8-11 (72.7%) from three-point range.
He scored a week high of 29 points in Army's Saturday win at Boston University, connecting on four made three-pointers and scoring 11 of his 29 in the final eight minutes to help Army secure the 83-74 victory.
On January 9 vs. Colgate, Rucker joined the 1,000-Point Club when he made a three-pointer with 52 seconds left in the first half. Rucker is now the 10th Army player since the 2010-11 season to hit the 1,000-point mark. He is also the 37th Army player all-time to reach the milestone.
Rucker has heated up to start the new year in 2023. In five games in January, he is averaging 24.4 points, shooting 66% from the floor and 72% from three-point while dishing out 4.2 assists and securing 3.8 rebounds per game.
Currently, Rucker's three-point percentage (72%, 18-25) is the best in all of Division-1 college basketball in the month of January 2023 for any players that have made 10 or more three-pointers.
Rucker is currently second in the Patriot League averaging 16.6 points per game, only behind Gerrale Gates (Holy Cross), 17.5 points.
