TOLEDO, Ohio – The Army West Point women's tennis team opened its spring season dropping a 7-0 decision to host Toledo in the first meeting between the two schools Saturday afternoon.
The Rockets captured No. 2 and 3 to claim the doubles point after Army's duo of Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans rolled to a 6-1 decision at the No. 1 spot. The Black Knights' duo of Maria Drobotova and Isabella Brilliant threw a scare at Toledo before going down to a 7-6 (4) defeat at second doubles.
Though Toledo swept all six singles matches, Army challenged the Rockets forcing a third set tiebreaker at No. 1 and No. 5 where Jackson suffered a 7-6(7) defeat at the former with Jenna Sabel bowing (10-7) in the latter.
