Black Knights Shut Out Penn in 40-0 Victory

Philadelphia - The Black Knights soundly defeated the University of Pennsylvania Quakers, 40-0, on Friday to improve 2-1 on the season. Junior Quarterback Mikal Willeke set another season-high in passing with 303 yards. Senior Donovan Mannion finished the game with a season-high 101 receiving yards, and Traye Carson finished tonight with 122 yards.

How it Happened
The Black Knights had a slow start offensively while having dominated defensively early on. The Black Knights had four sacks in the first quarter and continued this trend in the second quarter with a sack by Ryan Rast and Sebastian Russell. Army's defense also kept Penn's junior quarterback Andrew Paolini to 180 yards, 13 completed passes out of 28 attempts and one interception.

Toward the end of the first half the Black Knights took an early lead against the Quakers. The offense started with a 27-yard field goal by Ben Abercrombie. Army continued with a 12-yard touchdown from Donovan Mannion to extend the Black Knights lead to 10-0. Army continued to hammer Penn in the second quarter with the help of Donovan Mannion, Traye Carson, and Henry Beck, each scoring a touchdown, extending their lead to 31-0.

Quarterback Mikal Willeke had another strong game, finishing tonight with a career high of 303 yards and four touchdowns. He went 16 for 27 . Black Knights junior quarterback Justin Fitzgerald came into the game halfway through the third quarter. He completed the game with 32-yards on 3-for-7 passing. Army's quarterback Seth Brown also saw playing time tonight. On four rushing attempts he gained 17 yards.

Black Knights junior wide receiver Traye Carson finished tonight's victory with 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He and Donovan Mannion both had big plays. Carson with a 59-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and Mannion with a 77-yard touchdown in the second.
