BOSTON. Mass. - Army West Point men's soccer earned a 2-2 draw against Boston University on Wednesday night. Gage Guerra scored a brace in the first half for the Black Knights, a first 45 minutes which contained all four goals. Goalkeeper Tomas Hut eventually saved a Terriers penalty kick in the 68th minute to rescue the point for Army.
The Black Knights came in riding a five-game unbeaten streak, featuring four victories which put them first in the Patriot League at 2-0-0. Army dealt the first blow of the evening, with a calculated counter-attack resulting in a Gage Guerra goal in the 12th minute. After a clearance off a Terriers corner, Sam Epitime collected and dribbled around a BU defender. Epitime launched an inch-perfect pass into the path of Gage Guerra into the Terriers half, before Guerra chipped the ball beautifully over the goalkeeper who had come out of his net, giving Army the early lead.
BU would respond, netting their first goal of the game in the 26th minute on a penalty kick from Colin Innes. The Terriers would take the lead just two minutes later, with Gianluca Arlotti finding a left-footed finish from inside the box. Army had come back from a road deficit just four days earlier in its win over Holy Cross, and looked up to the task again, with Guerra equalizing in the 40th minute. With Army having bodies in the box from a free kick, Nick Atkinson placed a short pass into the path of Gage Guerra, who finished cooly off the crossbar and into the top right corner. It marked the fourth goal in the past two halves for Guerra, dating back to his second half brace on Saturday.
After going into the half level at two, BU came out with the first opportunity of the second half in the 52nd minute, with Tomas Hut doing well to make a near-post save for Army. The biggest moment of the game would involve Hut just 15 minutes later, after the Terriers were awarded their second penalty of the match. Hut stood tall to make the most pivotal of his four saves in the contest, stopping the penalty with a save to his right. The chances would dry up along with the goals as the game winded down, with the teams ultimately sharing the points.

"The boys battled tonight. Our second long trip to Massachusetts in 5 days and we knew it was going to be a tight game against a very good BU team. I loved how the group responded after going down 2-1 to make it 2-2. We will learn and recover from tonight and we are excited to get back on Malek on Sunday afternoon." - head coach Brian Plotkin.
