Golf Finishes Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - The Army West Point golf team wrapped up the Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday and finished 15th overall after the three-day tournament.Â
The Black Knights ended up with a team score of 912 (+72). Stanford won the team title after leading all three days. Michael Thorbjornsen of the Cardinal won the individual title after shooting a 4-under 66 on the final day.Â
TOURNAMENT NOTES:
• Marshall Daniel was Army's top finisher at 8-over par for the tournament and placed in a tie for 39th on the leaderboard.Â
• Daniel was steady on the final day of competition with an even par round of 70 on Sunday.Â
• He was impressive during the final 36 holes, going 1-over par and he finished with three birdies on Sunday.Â
The Black Knights are back next weekend for the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich., and Army will be joined by Navy and Air Force at the event.Â
