Football Set For Matchup vs. FCS Villanova
September 14, 2022 | Football
The Black Knights come off a heartbreaking overtime loss, 41-38, last week at home to UTSA, dropping to 0-2 on the season. Villanova enters 2-0 ranking No. 6 nationally in the FCS, coming off a 38-21 road win over LIU.
Despite the loss, Army's offense saw several reasons to be optimistic focused around quarterback duo of Tyhier Tyler and Cade Ballard who combined for 13-18 passing for 307 yards and two TDs. It was Army's first 300-yard passing game since 11/17/2007 vs. Tulsa. RB Jakobi Buchanan also rumbled for two TDs and now has three TDs on the young season.
For Villanova, senior running backs DeeWil Barlee and TD Ayo-Durojaiye combined to rush for 286 yards to pace the Wildcats offense a week ago. A win last week on the road at LIU was nothing new for the Wildcats, who went 5-1 on the road last season and have now won 13 of their last 17 road games dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
