Army West Point Announces Softball Leadership Change
August 23, 2022 | Softball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie has accepted the resignation of softball head coach Cheryl Milligan.
"I want to thank Cheryl for her leadership of the Army Softball program for the last three years," said Buddie. "I wish her and her family all the best as they embark on this next chapter."
During her three-year tenure at the helm of the program, eight Black Knights earned All-Patriot League honors while Army made two appearances in the Patriot League tournament. 13 cadet-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
"My time coaching here at Army West Point has been a blessing," said Milligan. "I have enjoyed building this team and working with each of these women and I wish them all the best in their futures. At this point, I have made the difficult decision to leave my coaching position at West Point. We have navigated being two working parents in two different states for a couple of years and it is time, for our son, to prioritize being together as a family. I feel proud to leave this softball program in a better place and I know that Army West Point softball will move forward with courage and excellence."
Associate coach Jen Consaul will serve as the interim head coach. Army West Point will conduct a national search at a time to be determined.
