WEST POINT, N.Y. -Â Army West Point Volleyball head coach Alma Kovaci Lee announced the 2022 fall slate on Tuesday afternoon, unveiling a 26-match schedule for the Black Knights.
Â
The schedule is highlighted by 12 home matches, including the Black Knights Invitational on Labor Day Weekend.
"I am excited about the opportunity we have to play tough ball," said Kovaci Lee. "When you play tough opponents early on, you get to learn more about your team's heart, character, and chemistry. You get to see not only the warrior but the one who plays with grit and grace."
Army opens the season with a road trip to the West Coast to battle in the San Diego State Tournament on Aug. 26-27 where the Black Knights will face California Berkley, University of San Diego and the host San Diego State.
The Black Knights will return to the banks of the Hudson on Sept. 2-3 for the Black Knights Invitational. The Cadets will play host to Kovaci Lee's alma mater Temple, along with St. Francis (NY), UConn, and 2022 Sweet 16 participant Kansas.
Â
Army will head north for the Syracuse Tournament on Sept. 9-10 to take on Yale, Hofstra, and the Orange, before returning home for the first Patriot League match of the season on Sept. 16 against American. The Black Knights will turnaround to host Navy in the Star Series Match, presented by USAA, on Sept. 17.
Â
Army hits the road for four matches taking on Lafayette (Sept. 23), Lehigh (Sept. 24), Colgate (Sept. 30), and Holy Cross (Oct. 1). The squad will return to Gillis Field House for two matches against Bucknell (Oct. 7) and Loyola Maryland (Oct. 8). The Cadets have four more road matches against Bucknell (Oct. 15), Navy (Oct. 21), American (Oct. 22), and Loyola Maryland (Nov. 12).
Â
The team will play back-to-back weekends at home starting with Lehigh on Oct. 29, followed by Lafayette (Oct. 29), Holy Cross (Nov. 5), and Colgate (Nov. 6).
Â
"I truly believe this 2022 volleyball team is ready to handle the work needed to represent West Point proudly," added Kovaci Lee. "We will see growth in each game we play. Â Our goals are clear, strive to win the Patriot League regular season, conference championship and advance to the NCAAs."
