Eight Named To Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent Teams

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Eight Black Knights have been selected to the 2022 Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent Teams.
LB Andre Carter II, OT Jordyn Law, CB Jabari Moore, S Marquel Broughton, and PR Tyrell Robinson were named to the first team. OG Connor Bishop, DE Kwabena Bonsu, LS Ryan Aguilar, and Robinson at running made the second team. Five Black Knights on the 2022 preseason list were named to the 2021 Phil Steele All-Independent Team – Carter, Broughton, Robinson, Law, and Moore.
Carter set the program single-season sack record with 15.5 which were second in the nation; he added 44 total tackles, 18.5 tackles-for-loss, forced four fumbles, blocked one kick, and tallied one interception in 13 games played. He earned AP All-American Third Team honors.
Law started in 12 games on the offensive line and recovered the game-winning fumble in the endzone against Air Force. Moore led the team in pass breakups and shared team-high honors in interceptions with two while playing in all 13 games in 2021. He was fifth on the team in total tackles with a career-high 50. Broughton, a two-time captain, had a career-high 80 total tackles and three TFL last season.
Robinson played in all 13 games and finished with career-highs in rushing (609) yards which were second on the team, and rushing touchdowns (3). He also had a career-high 141 punt return yards. Bishop, who was named a co-captain for the 2022 season, played an integral part in the rushing attack as the starting center which was second in the nation in yards per game (286) last season. Bonsu had 31 total tackles, including one sack and 2.5 TFL in 13 games last season. Aguilar saw action in all 13 games last season for one of the most efficient special teams units in the nation.
The Black Knights, who went 9-4 last season including a bowl win over Missouri, start the 2022 season at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, September 3. The 12-game slate features six contests at Michie Stadium, as well as the Lockheed Martin Commanders' Classic against Air Force in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, November 5 and the 123rd Army-Navy Game, presented by USAA, in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 10.
