BALTIMORE – The No. 2 seed Army Black Knights had their record-setting season conclude with a 16-6 defeat to third-seeded Navy in the 2022 Patriot League Championship Semifinals on Thursday.
GAME SUMMARY
Two weeks ago, the Black Knights handed Navy its first conference loss of the season while earning their first-ever win over the Midshipmen in seven meetings and their first-ever win over a ranked opponent. Army took control of that game in the third quarter by outscoring the Mids, 8-3, to the end game. However, in the rematch, the Black Knights fell into a hole that they could not get out of.
The Navy scored 1:15 into the contest on a free-position attempt and made it 2-0 two minutes later. The Mids eventually led 4-0 after six minutes while limiting Army to one shot on goal. Navy scored three more goals including with one second left in the quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Mids added another goal one minute into the second quarter before Caroline Raymond netted Army's first. Though the Black Knights went into halftime trailing 11-1.
The Black Knights scored the first two goals of the third quarter with Raymond adding her second followed by Kathleen Sullivan's 46th goal of the season. Army trailed 14-3 entering the fourth quarter. Carleigh Armstrong scored her 46th goal of the season to open the scoring in the quarter. Moira Callahan and Madeline Lenkart added tallies to round out the scoring.
CADET CAPSULES
- Caroline Raymond led Army in goals with two, points with two, and draw controls with five. She finished her career as the program leader in points with 161 and in assists with 51 assists. She is third on the goals list with 110 and fifth in draw controls (121).
- Kathleen Sullivan scored one goal to add to her single-season points tally of 77.
- Carleigh Armstrong scored once and had two ground balls.
- Julia Gorajek had an assist to finish the season second on the team in assists and points.
- Moira Callahan netted her eighth goal of the season.
- Madeline Lenkart scored her first goal of the season.

- The Black Knights set single-season team records in points, goals, shots on goal, saves per game, saves, man-down goals, and free position goals.
- Army's 12 wins, points per game, goals per game, assists, shots per game, shots on goal per game, draw controls, man-up goals are the second most in program history.
