Gresham Collects Patriot League Pitcher of the Week Accolades

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point Baseball's Tanner Gresham was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
The sophomore earned two saves in a pair of scoreless appearances against Bucknell to help the Black Knights claim the Patriot League regular-season title. He struck out one batter in his first outing to help the Cadets secure a 3-1 victory over the Bison in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader and finished the weekend by closing out the team's 6-5 win on Sunday afternoon.Â
Gresham has a team-best five saves on the year, the second-most of any other player in the conference. Through 25.1 innings on the mound, he has struck out 22 batters and owns a 3.20 ERA. He is the second Army pitcher to receive a weekly award this season, joining Patrick Melampy. Melampy was honored after pitching a complete game shutout against Navy.Â
In addition to Gresham, Nick Manesis also highlighted the weekly honors for the Cadets as he received an honorable mention nod. The senior hit .406 while slugging .692 to help Army finish last week 2-2. He scored five times and drove in four runs while belting out a 406-foot home run in the Black Knights' championship-clinching win over Bucknell.Â

Army will host a pair of midweek games against LIU (Tuesday, May 3) and Manhattan (Wednesday, May 4) before closing out the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders opposite Lehigh and Lafayette on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8. Both days are set for a 1 p.m. start and Saturday's games against the Mountain Hawks will serve as senior day at Johnson Stadium.Â
