Women’s Lacrosse Places Five On Patriot All-League Teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After one of the best regular seasons in the brief history of the program, the Army West Point women's lacrosse team landed five Black Knights on Patriot All-League teams announced on Monday.
Sophomore attacker Julia Gorajek and junior midfielder Jolie Riedell were named to the first team. Sophomore attacker Carleigh Armstrong, junior attacker Kathleen Sullivan, and senior defender Ceara Sweeney were selected to the second team. The five all-league selections are tied with the 2019 team for the most.
Julia Gorajek leads the team and is fourth in the Patriot League with a career-high 52 goals which are the second-most in program history. Gorajek is fourth in the league in goals and goals per game. She is second on the team in assists with 17 and in points with 69 which ranks sixth in the league. Gorajek earned Patriot League Weekly honors twice this season – March 1 and March 22. She netted a career-high six goals in the win over Holy Cross on March 19 and tied a career-high in points with seven against Holy Cross and Bucknell. Her career 3.8 points per game and 2.89 goals per game rank first in program history
Jolie Riedell is second on the team in goals with a career-high 49, including a team-high four game-winning goals. She leads the teams in draw controls with a career-best 66 and is third on the team with a career-high 26 ground balls. She has scored six goals, which are tied for third-most in program history – twice in a game (American and Colgate) this season. She is a two-time Patriot League Midfielder of the Week having won the award on consecutive weeks (March 28 and April 4).
Kathleen Sullivan has set two single-season records this campaign. She became the single-season record holder in points with 76 and assists with 31. She set a single-game program record with 11 points after posting career highs in goals with six and assists with five at Delaware on March 9. Sullivan's five assists are tied for the most and her six goals are tied for third-most in a game by a Black Knight. She also set the Delaware Stadium record for goals and points. She was named Patriot League Attacker of the Week for her performance.
Carleigh Armstrong's 45 goals are third on the team and seventh in the league; she is fourth on the team in points with 45. Armstrong leads the team and is fourth in the league in shot percentage (.524). She is the team's leading scorer in Patriot League contests (27).
Ceara Sweeney, a tri-captain, was named to the 2022 Patriot League Preseason All-League Team. She is having a career season with career-high totals in ground balls (32), draw controls (32), caused turnovers (10), goal (1), assists (2), and points (3). Her 1.88 ground balls per game rank eighth in the league
The Black Knights finished the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in league play. Army earned the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship and will play third-seeded Navy on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m.
