Men’s Tennis Wins A Pair On Senior Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army Black Knights extended their win streak to six matches after sweeping their senior day matches with victories over St. Bonaventure and Drexel on Sunday. Before the match against St. Bonaventure, the program honored seniors Diego Huttepain, David Gorshein, and Sam Kesti,
DOUBLES (1,2,3)
Army won two of the three doubles matches to win the point. In No. 1 doubles, Thomas Lake and A.J. Woodman won 6-3 before Army dropped No. 2 doubles, 6-4. Seniors Sam Kesit and Diego Huttepain outlasted Norka Sanchez and Jean Marrero, 7-5, to clinch the point.
SINGLES (1,4,3,5,6,2)
The Black Knights picked up wins in the middle of the lineup – two, three and four singles. Paul Roberts won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, in four singles to give Army a 2-1 lead. In No. 3 singles, Nathan Jose beat Marco Rivolo, 6-4, 6-3. The Bonnies, however, won in one, five, and six singles to tie the match at 3-3. The match came down to No. 2 singles with Vishnu Bodavula topping Jean Marrero, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.
DOUBLES
Lake and Woodman won their third straight match with a 7-6 win in No. 1 doubles. However, the Black Knights were edged in two and three doubles by the identical score of 6-4.
SINGLES
Army responded well in singles, winning the four matches needed to clinch the match. A.J. Woodman won in straight sets in two singles. Samuel Eden beat Sanil Jagtiani in three singles, 6-4, 6-4. Thomas Lake won his match, 7-5, 6-3, in four singles. Huttepain outlasted Xandy Hammitt, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) in No. 1 singles.
