Hockey Clinches Home Ice Advantage in 6-6 Tie

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point Hockey will be hosting a home playoff series at Tate Rink after battling to a 6-6 tie against Sacred Heart in the team's regular season finale.Â
The Cadet offense exploded for six goals, but the Pioneers roared back to tie the game that ended in a 6-6 tie.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
The Black Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 just two minutes into the action thanks to Daniel Haider. The senior netted his seventh goal of the season to give Army a 1-0 lead. SHU added a goal at 5:52, Ricky Lyle answered just 15 seconds later after taking a saucer pass from Bilek and depositing it into the bakc of the net. Eric Huss and Lyle would both add another pair of goals to give Army a 4-2 lead going into the first intermission.Â
The Black Knight powerplay stepped up in a big way on Saturday, taking advantage of sloppy play from the Pioneers and scoring two goals on the PP in the second period. Colin Bilek had the first tally, his team-leading 11th, and Michael Sacco hammered home the other goal to give Army a 6-2 lead after 40 minutes of action.Â
Sacred Heart battled all the way back in the third period, scoring four goals to tie the game. The two sides went into an overtime period, where no one was able ot find the back of the net. The Pioneers captures the extra point with a 1-0 shootout win.Â

Army will have two weeks to rest and prepare for the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. The team will host sixth-seeded Air Force at Tate Rink on March 11-13. with the game time to be announced.
