Davis Qualifies For Winter Cup Finals

DALLAS, TX --- Competing among the best in the country, Mathew Davis of Army West Point Men's Gymnastics did a tremendous job at the opening day of the Winter Cup placing eighth on the floor exercise and qualifying for the second day of the meet.

Davis is one of 35 athletes moving on to compete in the all-around of the 2022 Winter Cup Finals.

Davis opened the meet on floor scoring 13.400, 0.75 better than his floor exercise score at his first Winter Cup in 2019, earning eighth place on the event. On pommel horse, the senior scored a season-best 12.550 placing 21^st. He followed with a score of 12.850 on the rings for 20^th place.

In the second half of the meet, Davis recorded a 13.700 on vault and 11.700 on parallel bars. The Firstie closed the meet with a score of 12.050 on the high bar. Davis placed 21st in the all-around with a score of 76.250.
