Swimming & Diving Lands 17 on All-League Teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a successful outing at the Patriot League Championship, the Army West Point swimming & diving team had 17 total cadet-athletes receive All-Conferencce honors, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Black Knights placed six on the All-League First Team, with 11 earning Second Team accolades. Army had the second-most selections of any Patriot League program, falling behind Navy (31) while finishing ahead of Bucknell (14).
The swimmers and divers who place first in individual events at the Patriot League Championships automatically qualify for the All-League first team, while runner-up finishers are guaranteed at least a second-team spot. Both teams are completed based upon overall points compiled during the championship, with only individual points counting towards the All-League selections.
Leading the way for Army Women's Swimming & Diving was Meghan Cole, who landed on the First Team as a plebe. In her first-ever championship meet, she collected the eighth-most individual points at 49, the most of any other freshman at the meet. Cole captured gold in the 200 IM, lowering her own program record with a time of 2:00.14. She additionally finished third in the 100 Fly while helping a trio of Army relays to second-place finishes (200 Medley, 400 Medley, 200 Free).
On the men's side, five competed their way to First Team honors, as Daniel Alaimo, Owen Harlow, Ian Tansill, Sam Wesley and Evan Yoo all got the nod. Alaimo, who was additionally named Diver of the Meet, became the first Black Knight to capture both the 1- and 3-meter boards since the 2013 season. The 40 points he accumulated throughout the meet were the 13th-most of any competitor in the men's field.
Of the swimmers, plebe Evan Yoo paced the Cadets with 53 individual points, which tied for the fourth-most overall. Yoo swam his way to a first-place finish in the 200 Breast while setting a new program record. He also posted a plebe record in the 200 IM, where he placed third, and earned a bronze in the 400 IM.
Following Yoo was Ian Tansill, who racked up 48 points over the course of the championship meet. Tansill had one of the most exciting performances of the competition when he shattered the program record by 10 seconds while claiming first in the 1650 Free. His time, which sits within the nation's top 30, also stands as an NCAA B Cut. Tansill additionally helped boost the team with a second-place finish in the 800 Free Relay.
Joining the aforementioned Cadets on the First Team was Owen Harlow, who had a thrilling Patriot League Championship debut. Harlow competed to program records in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, while setting a meet record in the shorter race. He swam NCAA B Cuts in both events and also helped Army earn a trio of relay medals, doing so in the 400 Medley (second), the 200 Free (third) and the 400 Free (third). Overall, he scored 45 points to finish in the individual top 10.
Rounding out Army's First Team selections was Sam Wesley, whose meet was highlighted by a second-place swim in the 200 Back. Wesley landed in the top-15 of the individual scorers with 40 points overall.
