Hockey Drops Contest at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Army West Point hockey went toe-to-toe with Atlantic Hockey's top seed, American International College, falling in a 5-1 contest at the Massmutual Center.
Hunter McCoy's first career goal was the highlight of the contest for Army who fell to 9-10-2 in Atlantic Hockey play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Black Knights locked in on the defensive end in the first period, keeping the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard through the first 20. Justin Evenson's 10 saves anchored the Army defensive unit that also blocked seven shots in the first frame.
AIC got on the board first with an early second-period goal, but Army answered with their first goal shortly after. Hunter McCoy lit the lamp for the first time in his career to even things up at one, midway through the second period. McCoy's strike came off assists from Patrick Smyth and Jake Felker.
The Black Knights could not get the offense going in the third period, as AIC tacked on two more goals to skate away with a 5-1 victory.
