Men's Basketball Hang On for One-Point Win

West Point, NY – Army Men's Basketball (5-5) hosted New Jersey Institute of Technology (1-8) at Christl Arena on Wednesday night, hanging on for a one point win, 63-62.
Army was once again paced by the dynamic freshman duo of Ethan Roberts and Coleton Benson. The duo shot a combined 6-10 from three-point for 28 points. Roberts scored a team high 16 points including 4-6 from three, marking his second career game knocking down four three-pointers. Benson collected 12 points and was 2-4 from three.
Charlie Peterson was all over the boards, securing a career high 16 rebounds en route to his second career double-double. Jalen Rucker (10) and Peterson (11) scored in double digits.
Army and NJIT played evenly in the first half going into the break tied, 35-35.
In the second half, Army trailed 46-45 before jumping out to 9-0 run, giving the Knights a 54-46 lead. During the scoring run, Rucker and Roberts connected from deep. The Highlanders responded and grabbed a 60-59 lead after a Kevin Osawe jumper with 4:56 to play.
Both teams would struggle scoring down the stretch as Army would take the lead for good, 61-60 after a layup by Peterson. Benson would put the finishing touches on the game connecting on two foul shots with 10 seconds to go to give Army a 63-60 win.
Miles Coleman (15) and Mekhi Gray (13) paved the way for the Highlanders in scoring.
