Black Knights Have Solid Performance at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Army men's and women's diving team had a solid outing at the West Virginia Invite. Competing against ten schools, diver's David Manelis, Isaac Newman, and Minh Donnell finished in the top 10 in their respective events.
The Men's Meet
The Army Black Knights started out strong on day one. The Black Knights kicked things off with the quarterfinals, going up against eight schools. In the 1M dive, sophomore Isaac Newman finished third with a score of 316.40. Sophomore David Manelis placed fourth with a score of 304.60. With their top-four finishes Manelis and Newman both qualified to compete in the finals.
In the 1M finals, Manelis finished third with a final score of 239.50 behind Alabama's Peter Edin and West Virginia's Owen Johns who finished first and second with a score of 326.80 and 323.90 respectively. Newman completed the finals placing eighth with a final score of 260.75.
In day two of competition, Army kicked things off with the 3M Dive. Both Manelis and Newman qualified for the finals with final scores of 299.65 and 293.45 besting St. Bonaventure's Lucas Dekaney and Navy's George Moore. In the finals, Manelis ended competition finishing third with a final score of 322.50, just behind West Virginia's Glenn Eloriaga, who finished second with a score of 326.20.
The Women's Meet
The Black Knights kicked off day one with the same determination as the men's team. In the 3M quarterfinals, sophomore Minh Donnell finished fifth with a score 265.90, qualifying for the championship round. In the 3M finals Donnell finished fifth with a final score of 269.40.
On day two Army continued where it left off on Thursday, starting things off with the 1M dive. In the quarterfinals, Abigail Gibbs and Minh Donnell finished ninth and tenth with scores of 254.65 and 248.00, both Gibbs and Donnell qualified to further compete in the consolation final. Minh Donnell finished first in the consolation final with a score of 282.10, defeating James Madison University's Madison Yager by 8.7 points. Gibbs finished sixth with a final score of 249.10.
