WEST POINT, N.Y. In a defensive battle, the Black Knights defeated the Lafayette Leopards, 1-0, thanks to a first-half goal by co-captain Emma Richey on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
First Half

At the 18' minute mark, senior Dara Murray's shot on goal gave Army its first scoring opportunity, but her shot was saved by Lafayette's goalkeeper Natalie Neumann.
Twenty-seven minutes in, Drysdale took another shot that Neumann saved.
Shortly after, Brigid Duffy took a shot that went left of the post.
In the 36^th minute, senior Emma Richey scored for the Black Knights, giving Army a 1-0 lead. Richey collected the ball at the far post from a corner kick and her shot crossed the line before the defense cleared it.

Second Half

Five minutes into the second half, Madison Niebish took a shot that was blocked.
Immediately following, Jordan Follenweider had a shot that went left.
In the 72' minute mark, Army missed an opportunity for a 2-0 lead, when a shot by Elise Urkov was saved by Neumann.
At the 77^th minute, Jasmine Talley took a shot that again went right of the post.
Goalkeeper Sage Strohman had two saves, both keeping Lafayette scoreless.
Hoping to further extend the lead, Murray took a shot in the 88^th minute but Lafayette's Neumann stopped the shot with a save.
Army's defense in the second half had continued success in keeping the Leopards scoreless.

CADETS CAPSULES

Tonight's goal was Emma's Richey's second goal of the season.
Sage Strohman had two saves.
Dara Murray had one assist.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Army outshot Lafayette 21-2.
Black Knights had possession of the ball 61% in the second half.
Army is now 4-1-1 in Patriot League, 6-4-5 overall.
