An All Team Efforts Pushes Army Past Immaculata

WEST POINT, NY --- Fourteen Cadets contribute scoring efforts in Army West Point Women's Basketball's (11-8, 5-4) dominate 78-41 win over Immaculata (11-6, 5-4) on Monday night at Christl Arena.
Natalie Rhine led the way with a career-high of 11 points going 5-of-9 from the floor in under 10 minutes of playing time. Taylor Sullivan followed with 10 points and five rebounds. McKenzie Muse was strong on the boards for the team ripping down a season-high of 10 rebounds while contributing six points. Vasana Kearney, Natalie Stralkus, Alisa Fallon, and Sabria Hunter each contributed six points to the team's victory. Army out rebounded Immaculata 53-38 while holding the team to a 23-shooting percentage.
How It Happened
Army had control from the tip, leading 14-2 at the first media timeout. Stralkus led with six points hitting two three-pointers for the team. Melanie George was an immediate impact off the bench for the Black Knights scoring four points in just over a minute. Army finished the first quarter with a 25-6 lead and out rebounded the Mighty Macs 16-8.
The Black Knights were able to maintain their lead in the second quarter outscoring Immaculata 18-10 in the period. Army shot 50 percent from the floor and held Immaculata to 14 percent. The Mighty Macs were able to fight back taking advantage of Army's defensive fouls and capitalizing at the free throw line going 6-for-12. The Black Knights had trouble on the boards allowing Immaculata to grab just as many as them, 12. Heading into halftime, nine Cadets had contributed points to Army's lead 43-16. Rhine led with five points in under two minutes.
Army opened the third quarter with a layup from Sullivan to up the team's lead to 45-18 and ignited a 10-0 scoring run for Army in just under four minutes. Kearney checked into the game and went right to work. She scored six points in two minutes for the Black Knights to up their lead to 59-19. Rhine drew an offense foul with two minutes on the clock. She kept her momentum going on the offensive end hitting a pull up jumper. Army finished the quarter with a 63-23 lead.
Immaculata fought back in the third, but Army was able to keep its lead. The Black Knights s46 percent from the floor with the efforts led by Sullivan with two. Jaida Strippoli dished out three assists and scored two points for the team. The Black Knights dominated in the paint scoring 12 of their 15 points of the quarter in the paint. Army finished the game with a 78-41 victory.
