BOSTON – The Army Black Knights women's track and field squad competed at the 2022 John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday.

MEET SUMMARY
A few Cadets continued their torrid start to the indoor season. Anna Tovkach, who was named Patriot League Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, set three records in the 800m. The Gainesville, Fla. native broke her own academy record with a time of 2:05.69 which is the fifth fastest time in the NCAA. The time also set a new service academy record and is the fastest time in Patriot League history. Â
Â
In the field, Emily Mikoud set three records in the weight throw (21.74) while placing first in the event. She broke her own Army and service academy marks and set the facility record. Abigail Green was third (18.62m) and Kayley Ragazzin was sixth (17.95m). Emily Fink, who has been named rookie of the week for three straight weeks, claimed the shot put with a 15.36m toss; Ragazzini was sixth. Â

COACH'S CORNER
"The Boston University track is widely considered to be one of the fastest tracks in the United States. Some would say it is THE fastest. People run fast here, and the meet attracts teams from all over the country which leads to great competition. We brought most of our middle distance and distance runners and some of our field event people and were rewarded with significant improvements.
Â
In the field events, our two Emily's won again. Emily Fink won the shot and showed that she can put up consistent marks over 50 feet week after week. Emily Mikoud won the weight throw and broke the Boston University facility record, her own Army school record and reset her own service academy record. It has thus far been a remarkable season for her, and she continues to impress me with her strength, her athleticism and her competitive fire. She is one of the best weight throwers in the country right now and there is still more room for her to improve.
Â
On the oval there were numerous personal bests from the middle distance and distance women. The most impressive run came Anna Tovkach. She stepped up to the starting line in the 800 in heat 2 and charged to the lead when the gun went off winning the race going away. Her race was one of the most impressive performances ever by an Army woman on the track. Her time of 2:05.69 bettered her academy record set last weekend and is now fifth on the NCAA list as we head into the rest of the weekend. That time also broke the service academy all time indoor record for the 800m run bettering the previous mark set in 2011 and is the fastest time ever run by a Patriot League woman in the 800. Anna has been good since she got to Army but what we are seeing now is dominance.
Â
On the service academy record board there are 20 indoor events. The army women now own eight of the all-time service academy marks indoors and have set five of those marks in the last four years." – Mike Smith Â
