Fixemer Named Patriot League Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, PA – Paige Fixemer of Army West Point volleyball was named Patriot League Player of the Week after her outstanding showing at the West Point Invitational, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning. Diana Ethridge earned a spot on the honorable mention list for her strong performance at the invite.
Fixemer was a force at the net, opening the invite with a double-double in Army's five-set win over Sacred Heart. She recorded 17 kills and ten blocks with three being solos. She finished the match with 23.5 points. In the Cadet's fall to High Point, she recorded seven kills and three blocks. The Omaha, Neb. native closed out the invite with 11 kills in the Black Knight's sweep over Columbia.
Fixemer has recorded double-digit kills in three of the six matches she has competed in, with her season-high of 17 against Sacred Heart. She currently sits seventh in the league for kills per set (3.05), is second in blocks per set (1.26) and leads the league in solo blocks (4).

Ethridge earned honorable mention nods after posting her first collegiate double-double with a season-high of 51 assists and 23 digs in the win over Sacred Heart. She finished the next two matches with 58 assists and 15 digs. She recorded a season best of three kills against Columbia.

The Cadets travel to Queens, N.Y. for the St. John's Tournament on Sept. 10-11. Army will face Boston College (2 p.m.) and Fordham (7 p.m.) on Sept. 10 and close out the weekend against the host, St. John's, on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
