Banse Named Associate Athletics Director for Compliance

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie has announced the addition of Andy Banse as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. Â
"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Andy Banse to the Army West Point family as our Associate Athletics Director for Compliance," said Buddie. "Andy's experience at every level; student-athlete, coach and administrator will contribute to the elevation of our compliance office under his leadership."Â Â
Banse, who will serve on the executive staff, brings 15 years of compliance experience spanning three universities to Army West Point. Banse arrives to Army West Point after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Penn State, a role he had held since 2017. He was responsible for assisting with the management of all facets of the athletics compliance program that serves 31 teams and approximately 800 student-athletes. Banse joined the Penn State staff as Director of Athletics Compliance in 2012 after a brief coaching stint with the Penn State Track and Field team, coaching a school record holder and Olympic Trials finalist. Â
Before Penn State, Banse served as an Associate Director of Compliance at the University of Iowa from 2007-2010 and as an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Stetson University from 2006-2007. Â

"I am thankful to Athletic Director Mike Buddie and Executive Associate Athletics Director Kristine Fowler for giving me the opportunity to support the development of our cadet-athletes. My family and I can't wait to get on post to support the Black Knights."Â
A National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Education Certified professional, Banse currently serves on the Reasonable Standard Committee. Â
Banse attended the University of Iowa where he was a member of the track and field team. He was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team from 2003 to 2005. During the 2005 season, Banse earned Academic All-American Honors, National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American Honors, and the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.Â
Banse earned a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Iowa in 2004 and completed his master's degree in Health and Sport Studies from the University of Iowa in 2006.Â
Andy and his wife Lisa have two children, Luca and Bianca. Â
