Two Cadets Named to Preseason All-League Team, Black Knights Tabbed Third

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point volleyball, the 2020 Patriot League Champion, was selected third in the league's Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Paige Fixemer and Allanah Cutler each garnered a spot on the Patriot League Preseason All-League team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday morning.

Army finished with 112 points, seven first place votes and one point behind American in second. Colgate claimed the top spot in the poll with 115 points and eight first-place votes, while Allie Lowe was named Preseason Player of the Year. Navy trailed Army in fourth, followed by Loyola Maryland and Holy Cross. Lehigh, Lafyette and Bucknell rounded out the Patriot League Preseason Poll.
The Black Knights finished last season with a record of 6-3 and a 4-2 mark in conference matches. Army collected the program's fourth conference title, earning their second berth to the NCAA Championship that was held in Omaha, Neb. Army led the league in kills per set (13.18) and digs per set (18.09).
Fixemer was a 2020 Second Team All-Patriot League selection after her stellar rookie campaign. The middle blocker played in all nine matches finishing second on the team in kills (93) and kills per set (2.51), while leading the Black Knights in total blocks (29). The Omaha, Neb. native recorded a season-high of 20 kills against Holy Cross and tallied two more double-digit kills matches.
Cutler garnered a spot on the league's All-League team after finishing her plebe year leading the team in kills while ranking seventh in the Patriot League with 113 kills. She recorded double-digit kills in seven of the nine matches she played in and totaled 123 points. Cutler recorded a season-high of 19 kills and 20 points in the Black Knights' five set victory Holy Cross.
The Black Knights will open the 2021 season when they welcome Merrimack, Providence, and Iona for the Army Invitational at Gillis Field House on Aug. 27-28.
